YCIA

Young Citizens in Action (YCIA) is the Youth Department within Voluntary Service Bureau (VSB).  YCIA is a youth led programme that has evolved over the last 9 years.  We aim to resource, support and empower young people aged 16-30 to make a valid contribution to their community through volunteering and raising awareness of relevant youth issues as decided upon by young people themselves.

We promote the concept of active citizenship and operate under the themes of Volunteering, Citizenship, Community Relations, Social Inclusion, Information and Training.  YCIA volunteers have the opportunity to participate in training in a range of matters including anti-racism, disability awareness and child protection.

Current research carried out by the YCIA 'Why Not Ask Me?' discovered 91% of young people who were not currently volunteering would volunteer if they were asked!

So guess what......we are asking!!!

YCIA would like to thank the Young Persons Advisory Group responsible for developing and designing the advertising poster that was displayed on 45 buses throughout Belfast - the campaign was a huge success.

If you would like to join the Young Persons Advisory Group and have your say please contact roisin@vsb.org.uk or call us on 028 90200850.

For an idea of how exciting this opportunity is, why not check out past projects in our Downloads Section.  They include:
