Photographic Competition 2010
The Youth Justice Agency is launching a photographic competition to give young people the opportunity to express their ideas about how to reduce youth crime.
Participants are asked to capture the following theme in a photographic image.
RESPECT – What it means to me
Entries can be either one single photograph or a montage created with a maximum of four photographs.
All entries must be accompanied by a short explanation of no more than 30 words on how it meets the theme.
Who can enter?
Entries can be received from young people throughout Northern Ireland.
The two categories are:
Group 1: 10-13 yr olds
Group 2: 14-17 yr olds
Regional prizes will be awarded to winners in each age group from each country across Northern Ireland: Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone, L’derry.
Prizes
Prizes to be won include:
- Digital Cameras for young people courtesy of The Co-operative Membership.
- Vouchers for school/youth club.
- Attendance at a professional photoshoot for one overall winner, courtesy of Harrison Photography. This will give the winner first hand experience of the professional press photographer role and an opportunity to learn how their images find their way onto our tv screens and into our newspapers and magazines.
All winners, accompanied by parents or guardians and a teacher or youth worker, will also be invited to a prize giving ceremony at Hillsborough Castle.
Rules
All entries should include name, age (at date of entry) and contact details including county. Please also include the name of your school or youth club if appropriate
These details are requires for categorisation of entries and to enable competition winners to be notified. Details will not be used for any other purpose. Parental permission will be sought before any winners’ details are confirmed or published.
Entries will be accepted by post or can be submitted electronically through our website: www.youthjusticeagencyni.gov.uk
Hardcopy entries including montages should not exceed 10x8 inches. Electronic copies should be a maximum of 4MB.
If entering by post forms can be downloaded from the website although handwritten entries will also be accepted.
The theme is open to individual interpretation but entries must be accompanied by a short paragraph of no more than 30 words explaining how they meet the chosen theme.
The Youth Justice Agency reserves the right to disqualify any entries deemed to be inappropriate (e.g abusive content).
All entries must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe the rights of any other party.
Permission should be sought from any third parties featuring in the photograph.
By entering the competition all entrants give permission for the Youth Justice Agency to publish and exhibit photos in any future publicity campaign or their website.
