LIBRARIES – ARE WE INTERESTED??

How interested are you in the state of libraries in Northern Ireland?  Do you use them?  Would you be more likely to go to the library if it was a bit cooler – maybe if there were comfy seats or a café?  Perhaps there should be free fast Internet access?   Or are you quite happy with libraries the way they are?  Maybe you even think they should all be shut down?

The Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure (DCAL) wants to hear your views on the future development of library services in Northern Ireland.

Following the launch by Libraries Minister David Hanson MP of the consultation document 'Northern Ireland's Libraries - A Framework for Change', DCAL wants to ensure that everyone with an interest in libraries has the opportunity to be heard.

The Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure says that Libraries provide a valued source of enjoyment and enlightenment for all age groups, but there is scope to make them even better. They believe that it is important that people of all ages, from all walks of life, library users and non-users take this opportunity to look afresh at our public libraries and make their views known on how they can be improved.

This is an opportunity for everyone to play a part in shaping the future of library provision in Northern Ireland.
